This Lunar New Year reminded us that kindness is best shared around a table.
On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Small Hands Big Hearts was more than honored to partner with CityServe yet again to host a Chinese New Year–themed "Fresh Bites" event, bringing together more than 40 local seniors for an afternoon rooted in culture, connection, and care. The event celebrated the spirit of the holiday through homemade, culturally inspired dishes, and the simple joy of gathering together.
The experience was filled with warmth and laughter, creating a welcoming space where seniors could feel seen, valued, and connected. Food became more than a meal, it became a way to celebrate tradition, and share meaningful moments between generations.
While our young volunteers were at school during the event, they helped plan the menu, putting thought and heart into every part of the experience. Their efforts were a powerful reminder that service doesn’t always happen in front of the camera; sometimes it begins with preparation, teamwork, and care behind the scenes.
At Small Hands Big Hearts, we are a volunteer-driven nonprofit committed to making change right here in our own community. Partnering with CityServe for this Lunar New Year celebration reminded us that when people come together with open hearts, even a simple meal can create joy, belonging, and most importantly, lasting impact ❤️.
"Because when many small hands come together, big hearts create lasting change."
