Small Hands Big Hearts started a new chapter of our volunteering journey creating an event called the "Intergenerational Game Day" in which Small Hands Big Hearts goes to different community centers giving a chance for our youth to interact with elderlies through interactive games and fun that is shared timelessly.
Our first two game days occurred on April 24 and May 29 respectively, where we brought around 10 of our children to bond with the elderlies and play interactive games with them. Many of the games that were played were games that were more classic and cultural in which were foreign to a lot of our children. This "teaching" and "playing" environment aims to nurture the bonding between the elderlies and the children, drawing an end to the "intergenerational" barrier. We hope to bring our children to not only play with the elderlies, but along the way, recognize some of the pain points the seniors may face today; so that the children can grow their societal awareness and figure out how to solve these pain points through interactive solutions.
The seniors love it so much that this will become a monthly event and we hope that more youth can join us in playing, helping, and caring for not only all the seniors, but our whole community as well.
"Because when many small hands come together, big hearts create lasting change."
So if you are passionate and interested in volunteering, feel free to join us. If you have any further doubts or questions, please email smallhandsbigheartsfdtn@gmail.com.
