This December, Small Hands Big Hearts was honored to partner with CityServe through their Adopt a Senior Program, a Christmas initiative held each year to bring warmth, care, and connection to seniors in our community. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to be part of a program that reminds us just how powerful simple acts of kindness can be.

The Adopt a Senior Program pairs volunteers with individual seniors, delivering thoughtful gifts during the holiday season—items such as scarves, blankets, and other comforting essentials. While these gifts offer physical warmth, what truly matters is the presence behind them: knowing that someone cared enough to show up. For many seniors, these visits bring comfort, joy, and the reassurance that they are remembered during a season that can otherwise feel quiet and lonely.

The impact of this program has grown significantly. Last year, we delivered gifts to 13 seniors with the help of around 10 families. This year, that number expanded to nearly 50 seniors, supported by 23 participating families. We are incredibly grateful for this growth and hope to continue spreading love and kindness across even more families and neighborhoods in the years to come.

Through this experience, the kids at Small Hands Big Hearts walked away with an important realization: within just a short distance of our own homes live seniors who are in need of companionship, care, and human connection. Many face the holidays with limited support, and even small gestures can make a meaningful difference. Together, we have the ability to help make our community kinder, more welcoming, and more connected.

Because when many small hands come together, big hearts create lasting change.
